The actress is seen fully naked but heavily blurred in stills from the movie, which have been setting message boards alight across the web. The stills have been quietly released amid an undergound viral marketing campaign driving traffic to a site promoting the low-budget sci-fi movie, adapted from a Michel Faber novel.

Scarlett Johansson has defended her decision to show full frontal nudity - albeit in a blurry way - in new movie Under The Skin, telling MTV there was a "lot of intention behind it. The film still above shows one of the heavily blurred images which has been doing the rounds on the internet, showing Scarlett in the nude. She admits to being nervous before shooting the scenes: "You know I'm not a nudist by nature so of course you feel self-conscious about it beforehand. Under The Skin is a sci-fi movie about an alien woman who goes round seducing men for meat. ScarJo actually had to go round the outskirts of Glasgow enticing men into her vehicle while shooting the film, before making them sign disclaimers to appear as extras in the movie.
